 If you need to spend a night near the airport in Caracas before continuing on to Margarita, you can make reservations online at La Posada del Hidalgo which is about 15 minutes from the aiport in Macuto. Friends who have stayed there say that it is clean and very reasonable and that they have a dependable English speaking driver who picks them up at the airport.

The prices listed in US Dollars are not up to date because they were determined using an old exchange rate of about 700 Bolivares/US Dollar. The current exchange rate is much higher (around 2,500/Dollar in Nov 2004) while the room rates in Bolivares have changed very little.

A friend who stayed at this hotel recently describes it this way,
"The Posada del Hidalgo in Macatou is about 15 minutes from the airport. It was quite nice and
had a fantastic traditional Spanish Restaurant with live music... Ask the hotel to have a driver at
the airport holding a sign with your name when you land. It is very convenient."
